The transformation has been so impactful that M&J Recycling is now shortlisted for the DIRA Automation Award 2025.
“This project represents a real leap forward for us. By integrating four different robots into one cell, we’ve eliminated many manual steps and created a more reliable, data-driven process. That means stronger performance for us as a company – and even greater value for our customers,” explains Karsten Holk, COO at M&J Recycling.
The solution, developed in collaboration with Yaskawa, combines precision handling, induction heating, vision technology, and adaptive laser measurement. This ensures every welded shaft – the heart of M&J’s industrial shredders – meets the highest standards, with almost no errors or rework.
For customers, the benefits are tangible: consistently robust products, improved delivery reliability, and a greener supply chain as production is returned from China back to Denmark.
“Being nominated for the DIRA Automation Award is recognition that our focus on innovation and technology not only strengthens M&J Recycling, but also sets a benchmark for the wider industry,” says Senior Project Manager Søren Bolvig Kyed.
The award winner will be announced on October 1 during the opening of the HI trade fair in Herning.
