Solid first year as a stand-alone company
2022 has been a remarkable journey with profitable growth.
The annual report 2022 of M&J Denmark A/S – with the trade name M&J Recycling - was published a short while ago. M&J Recycling was born on December 1st 2021 with Ahlström Capital as the new owner. The first year as stand-alone has been very busy, and M&J’s CEO, Uffe Hansen is thrilled about the development the company has been through.
“The increased global attention on sustainability and recycling continued to fuel M&J’s international business opportunities throughout 2022. Our business is growing on all parameters”, says Uffe Hansen. “The order intake grew by 34% compared to 2021, and net result, EBITDA, increased by 13% compared to the previous year. We see growth and growth potential in all of our market areas”, Hansen points out.
Investments in continued growth
2022 has been a remarkable journey for M&J, where many new internal functions have been established. M&J has also had a strong focus on the supply chain in order to tackle a very challenging market. This has made M&J an even more resilient company. During 2022 M&J has also invested in the factory in Horsens, which will significantly increase the production capacity. Throughout 2022 M&J also onboarded many new employees which brings the workforce up to a total of 160 employees globally.
ESG
Being a greentech company also comes with a responsibility to improve its own carbon footprint and one of M&J’s key figures is the carbon emission per produced unit. This figure has been monitored closely since 2019 and from 2021 to 2022 the emissions have been reduced by 16% per produced unit, and from 2019 to 2022 by 70%.
2022 has also been M&J’s first year as part of Ahlström Collective Impact (ACI), which is an initiative in partnership with UNICEF Finland, the UN organization for child rights. M&J is a member of ACI, and M&J acts together with other companies in the ACI network to create awareness of child rights with a special focus on education.
New flagship with E-drive launched
In 2022 M&J launched the ‘Next Generation’ pre-shredder – M&J P250 – where the E-drive version can reduce the operational energy consumption by up to 50%. The new M&J P250 is also equipped with a new patented modular cutting table, which makes service safer and quicker. The M&J E-drive technology will now be implemented in many M&J shredders – including fine-shredders, that will be launched later in 2023.
Outlook 2023
2023 is also going to be an exciting year, where new digital services are going to be launched - services that will improve the customer journey. M&J will also continue the global expansion with both new sales- and service partners and new M&J offices.
"I would like to reach out to both our employees and our sales- and service partners all over the world. You have been outstanding in 2022 and I am looking forward to continuing this growth journey with you."
Uffe Hansen, CEO
