A much-needed health check for powerful workhorses
Impressive number of operating hours
M&J builds machines that can and must last for many years. The carefully considered design is intended to withstand the enormous loads it is subjected to on a daily basis, as long as timely service are ensured. Only then can the machines retain their superior attributes. Years ago, the Kim Hock Corporation purchased two M&J PreShred 4000S machines for shredding their C&D wood fraction.
The first was acquired in 2006 and has more than 30,000 operating hours under its belt. The second was bought four years later and has done around 15,000 hours. Both machines operate smoothly and are serviced regularly.
As soon as the company experiences any issues with the mechanics or hydraulics, M&J’s regional service team supports immediately ensuring production can be resumed swiftly.
A clear message about worn parts
With so many successful hours of operation behind them, the machines deserve a particularly comprehensive check-up. Therefore, the company chose to accept the offer of a thorough ‘Health Check’ of the hydraulic machine components. M&J dispatched their specialists to thoroughly examine the two shredders and deliver a detailed report that accurately identified areas where maintenance should be improved.
The report also detailed the critical parts that should be replaced immediately – including heavy components that otherwise showed no signs of fatigue when the machines were running. Kim Hock Corporation ordered the parts so as to ensure continuous operation.
Unfortunately, one of the identified components broke before the replacement arrived. This only serves to emphasize the accuracy and the value of a health check – and that it should be performed in good time.
“Our two shredders are highly reliable and are the heart of our fuel operations for our inhouse boilers. With the Health Check, we now know that the machines can keep up the good work for many years to come without any
problems.” TECK SIANG LIM, DIRECTOR OF KIM HOCK CORPORATION
